Tips when visiting a site

  • Contact the site before visiting. You may want to confirm:

Hours of operation

If they accept walk-ins or require a scheduled appointment
  • Bring all required materials to the site.

Proof of identification

Social Security Cards for you, your spouse and dependents

Birth dates for you, your spouse and dependents on the tax return

Wage and earning statement(s) Form W-2, W-2G, 1099-R, from all employers

Interest and dividend statements from banks (Forms 1099)

Information on other sources of income and any deductions

A copy of last year’s Federal and State returns if available

Financial institution routing numbers and account numbers for direct deposit

To file taxes electronically on a married filing joint tax return, both spouses must be present to sign the required forms.

Those claiming homestead credit should bring a rent certificate and/or a copy of their property tax bill from last year, and a record of any Wisconsin Works (W2) payments received last year.

  • Ask for direct deposit. Tell your tax preparer that you want use direct deposit with your credit union account. Be ready to provide them with your account numbers and routing number(s) of the financial institution(s) you are using.
