Direct Deposit provides filers with a fast, free way to receive their tax refunds

Whether you're preparing your own taxes or using a preparation service, you can receive your tax refund faster at no additional cost by using a credit union account!

Follow these steps:

  1. Decide which account(s) will be used for direct deposit*. You can use up to three savings or checking accounts, for example, at up to three financial institutions.  Strongly consider setting aside some of your refund for a rainy day. Tax time is a great time to begin saving thanks to the convenience of refund splitting.

  2. Make note of your credit union's routing number and the account numbers you wish to use for direct deposit.

  3. Provide these numbers in the appropriate space of your tax form, or ask your preparer to do so.

* If you're not yet a credit union member, use the Credit Union Locator to find one nearby.
